Hello and welcome to the Matthews for Mayor Web Site. On this site you will find information on my experience, views, priorities and ways to support me.
Santa Clara is facing both challenges and opportunities and I am ready to lead and serve with positive and proven leadership.
I have served Santa Clara for ten years as Councilmember and Vice Mayor, four years as a City Planning Commissioner and served on numerous regional and city committees and boards.
Additionally, I have 26 yrs of professional municipal experience including twelve years as a City Administrator.

I am blessed to have the love and support of my amazing wife Julie and wonderful children Daniel, Carrie, Kanu and Molly. I am also honored to have earned the trust and support of many current and former elected officials including current Mayor Patricia Mahan and fourteen current and former Councilmembers including Councilmember Kevin Moore, Dominic Caserta and Joe Kornder, State Assemblymembers Jim Beall and Paul Fong, Former Santa Clara Mayors Gillmor, Fargher, Souza and Marsalli, numerous City Commissioners, the Santa Clara Police Officers and Fire Fighters Associations, Sierra Club, Santa Clara Chamber of Commerse PAC, League of Conservation Voters, Santa Clara Democratic Party, business and community leaders as well as many, many friends and neighbors.
